The Doncaster Rovers Belles were formed in 1969 by a group of young women selling draw tickets on the terraces of the then home of Doncaster Rovers (Belle Vue) and were originally named the Belle Vue Belles.
Today, the Doncaster Rovers Belles are the oldest ladies football team in the FA Women’s Premier League, and boast a great tradition of success. Little did they (the founding members) know, in 1969, that the Belle Vue Belles would be transformed into the Doncaster Rovers Belles of today, one of the worlds most famous womens football teams.
Our objectives are to maintain a dominant position in professional womens football and secure access to this great sport for future generations of girls across the Doncaster region, by building long-term partnerships with the local community and business sectors.
